About me

Hey there, I'm Caitlin - a theatre Design/Tech BFA major. Basically I work backstage on shows. Lighting specifically, but I love everything backstage, aside from the whole construction deal.

Art history is required for design/tech BFA students, but it makes sense for doing period shows. Very useful for costume, set, and lighting designers.

Other than that, I'm not that interesting so no more about me.

  1. Hi Caitlin! How cool that you work backstage on shows! That sounds really fun. You're right: a knowledge of art history can be helpful for lighting designers and periods shows. I always think it's neat when a period show has the type of lighting that is popular in art from the period. I'm specifically thinking of the dramatic lighting used in some Shakespeare plays. It reminds me of the Baroque style (which we won't be discussing this quarter, unfortunately). The Baroque is an artistic period which began a little before Shakespeare died. But I digress. My point: I agree that art history can be helpful in a career in design/tech.

    Welcome to the class!
